Descriptions:
Generally the Census operation is carried out by the Directorate of Census Operations (DCO),
Govt. of India, with the help of State Govt. personnel as Enumerators. The software is in two
parts – server side software, Client (TPC) side software.Govt. has conducted census in 2010, popularly known as NPR (National Population Register) Census. These NPR Census data
sheets are scanned, encrypted and grouped in the form of tiff images in EB wise. Again in
2011, Govt. has conducted house census and prepared “Abridged House List–AHL”.Linking
the NPR data with AHL data is called cataloging which will be done at Charge Center (CC).
After cataloging, the NPR tiff images will be converted to jpg images house hold wise. These
jpg images will be downloaded to Tablet PCs.These images will be used by the menu driven application “sec” in the tablet PC.Application, Database files and jpg images of one EB will
be downloaded to the TPC at a time. An Enumerator, Data Entry Operator and a TPC make
a team for conducting census in an EB.After Enumeration, the data has to be uploaded to the
server at the Charge center. After completing data collection of one EB, the same will be
uploaded to NIC (National Informatic Center).
