About Kshama

Hi, I'm Kshama, a Computer Science student at BITS Pilani.

Until 8th grade, I honestly thought studying was a chore, something you got through and then forgot. Then I got a math teacher who was so into his subject that it rubbed off on me. He made me love solving problems, and over the next three years, I went from dreading school to looking forward to it. He's a big reason I chose engineering.

Later I went through JEE Advanced prep, which everyone warns you is stressful. I loved it. There's nothing like a problem that won't crack on the first try, and then the moment it finally makes sense. I still chase that feeling.

That's what I want to give my students. I'm not here to drill them or pile on pressure. I want them to ask "but why does that work?", to try things and get them wrong without feeling silly, and to find out that physics, math, and chemistry can actually be fun. If I can do for one kid what my teacher did for me, I'll have passed his effort on.

My teaching approach

I don't want kids memorizing formulas. I want them to think like problem-solvers. Going through JEE taught me that the students who do best aren't the ones who've seen the most questions. They're the ones who can work through a question they've never seen before. I bring that habit into 8th-10th grade material, and I keep it playful so it never feels scary.

Why before how. Every topic starts with the idea behind it. Why does this formula exist, and what is it really saying?
Puzzles and "what if" questions. Kids get curious problems and are asked to guess, predict, and even argue before I explain anything.
A small stretch, no pressure. We cover the school syllabus, then add a few slightly tougher question around olympiad prep level per topic to get them thinking a level deeper.
Mistakes are useful. A wrong answer shows me how someone is thinking, so we treat it as interesting, never embarrassing.
Explain it back. Students put ideas in their own words. If they can teach it, they understand it.
How a class works (90 minutes, once a week)
Warm-up: a quick brain-teaser tied to the topic, or I ask them to explain the topic back to me with a twist, like no formulas allowed.
Building the concept: everyday examples, diagrams, and questions to the student throughout.
Guided problems: we solve together, starting at school level and moving up to the harder, olympiad prep questions.
Solo attempt: they try problems on their own while I watch how they approach them, then we go over them together.
Homework: a short weekly set matched to their level.

Most of our time goes to problem solving, because being able to think on the spot is what matters most later, including in entrance exams. A 90-minute class is long for younger kids, so I mix up the activities to ensure due diligence is placed on problem solving and stimulation.

What makes my classes different
I've just been through JEE. I know what kind of thinking pays off later and how to start building it early, with no exam pressure.
Easy to talk to. I'm a college student who remembers what confused me at this age, so kids feel fine asking questions.
A bridge between school and "slightly harder." They stay on top of school work while building reasoning skills that make higher classes easier.
Who it's for

Students in classes 8, 9 and 10 (any board) who:

want to really understand physics, maths and chemistry instead of rote learning
are curious or doing well and want something more engaging than school
find these subjects dry or confusing and need a fresh way in
