About Maya
I am a sophomore at Barnard College within Columbia University. I am a English major focusing on film and creative writing. I have taken many courses in creative writing and literature. Further, I have taught preschool level students for a year. Along with this, I taught Juniors and Seniors at my high school courses in history and English for my Senior Thesis Project.

For creative writing, I like to give prompts every lesson to do a short free write based off of this. Then the student can share what they wrote and we can work through what they think worked and didn't work. Further, the student can bring in a piece of their writing every lesson that they are working on for criticism and discussion. I would also bring in pieces of creative writing for the student to read that is specialized to their interests.
