About Kelsie
I'm Kelsie, a Brooklyn-based stained glass artist and the founder of Soft Shapes studio. I've been teaching since 2017, including at UrbanGlass and Snow Farm, and I've taught hundreds of classes to thousands of students. My training includes an assistantship at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio and a fellowship at Pilchuck Glass School. Outside the classroom, I make custom stained glass windows and installations for homes and restaurants, so what I teach comes from real studio practice. I'm patient, encouraging, and love helping beginners feel confident with glass.

In my lessons, you'll learn stained glass by making something real. We start with the basics: designing a pattern, cutting and grinding glass, wrapping pieces in copper foil, and soldering them together. Then we get creative with color, shape, and how light moves through your piece. The approach is hands-on, relaxed, and open-ended, so you'll leave with new skills and a finished piece you're proud of. Beginners are welcome, and if you already have some experience, we can explore new techniques like fusing. All you need is curiosity.
