About Jana
I am a software engineer with over six years of professional experience building and
shipping web applications. I spend my working days in the same tools I teach: JavaScript,
Node, databases, Git, and the unglamorous work of getting a product deployed and running
reliably for real users.
I teach because I remember being on the other side of it. Learning to code alone means
losing hours to problems a mentor could have solved in thirty seconds, and following
tutorials that show you what to type without ever explaining why. Having someone to ask
changes how fast you move, and that is what I try to be for my students.
In class I am patient and I do not hide behind jargon. There is no such thing as a silly
question here. If an idea has not landed, we slow down and approach it from a different
angle until it does. I would rather you genuinely understand one concept than copy five.
What I enjoy most is the moment a student stops asking me what to write and starts
telling me what they want to build. Getting people to that point, from knowing nothing to
shipping their own working site, is the reason I keep teaching.

My lessons are live, instructor-led and built around writing real code rather than
watching slides. Every session follows the same rhythm: I introduce a concept,
demonstrate it by building something on screen, then you build your own version while
I am there to unblock you. You finish with a portfolio of working projects, not just notes.
Each session runs for two hours, adding up to more than 80 hours of live teaching. We cover the
front end (HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery), the back end (Node.js, Express,
REST APIs) and databases (MongoDB, Mongoose), plus Git and version control, testing, and
deploying your site so it is live on the internet.
I am a software engineer with over six years of professional experience building and
shipping web applications, so what I teach is how the work is actually done in industry,
including the practices and habits employers look for.
These lessons are for complete beginners. No prior coding knowledge is needed and every
tool we use is free. They also suit career changers, students, and anyone who wants to
start freelancing or build a product for their own business. If you already code, this is
a fast way to get up to speed with Node and modern JavaScript. Classes are taught in
English and you will need a PC or Mac.
