About Lily
I am an experienced violin tutor with 8 years of teaching and professional music experience, passionate about helping students develop technical skill, musical creativity, and confidence. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.
One of the most meaningful milestones in my career has been witnessing students progress from struggling with posture, technique, or stage confidence to performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and expression.
My teaching emphasises building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also fostering creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive playing. I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide students with a holistic understanding of music.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a patient, supportive, and inspiring environment where students feel encouraged to explore, experiment, and grow. Teaching violin allows me to nurture confidence, discipline, and a lifelong passion for music in every student.

I teach violin using a methodology centred on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to create well-rounded musicians who are technically proficient, expressive, and confident. Lessons are tailored to the student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, blending structured practice with creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.
Motivation is central. I guide students to set achievable goals, track progress, and celebrate milestones, fostering perseverance, self-confidence, and a lifelong passion for music. Communication ensures lessons are collaborative and interactive, allowing students to ask questions, share challenges, and explore musical ideas freely.
Creativity is woven into every lesson. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises encourage students to develop a personal artistic voice and emotional connection to music. Integrity reinforces disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, forming habits that promote long-term success.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and basic piano, giving students a holistic musical foundation and ensuring they develop technical, artistic, and emotional skills simultaneously.
