About Aarvi
Hi! I’m a passionate, hands-on tutor who believes every student has the ability to succeed with the right support and guidance. My teaching style is active and engaging — I encourage students to explain their thinking, work through a variety of problems, and practice until the material feels second nature. I’ve taken a rigorous math track, including Honors Pre-Algebra, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, AP Precalculus BC, and AP Precalculus AB. This background has given me a strong understanding of both foundational and advanced concepts, which I bring into every tutoring session. I also use study techniques that I’ve personally found effective, making sure to adapt my approach to fit each student’s unique learning style. My teaching method is very hands-on and active. I believe students learn best when they’re fully engaged, so I often use techniques that I personally use when I study — because they work! One of my favorite strategies is having students teach the material back to me. I also make sure they practice with a variety of problems, from simple to challenging, and repeat them until the topic becomes second nature — like knowing the back of their own hand. My goal is to make learning not just effective, but empowering.
In a typical Algebra lesson on solving linear equations, I start with a quick warm-up to review basic skills. Then, I explain the step-by-step process using inverse operations, often with visuals like a balance scale to build understanding. We do guided practice together before students work independently on problems of varying difficulty, checking their answers as they go. I also have students explain problems back to me to reinforce their learning. The lesson ends with a short exit ticket to assess understanding and boost confidence.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my hands-on, student-driven approach. I don’t just explain — I actively involve students in their learning by having them teach concepts back to me, work through a variety of problems, and practice until the material becomes second nature. I use study methods that I’ve personally found effective, and I tailor my sessions to each student’s learning style. My goal isn’t just to help them pass — it’s to help them truly understand and build confidence in themselves.
