About Robert
I hold an honours degree from Durham University (Grey College) in History and Education, graduating in 2019. Following this I trained to teach through Gordon's School, Woking and the University of Sussex. I then moved to Downsend School in Surrey where I was Head of Year and a Teacher of Humanities. I hold a firm belief that all students are capable of thriving academically through giving them the confidence and toolbox of skills needed to flourish. I have over 6 years of teaching experience in a variety of top performing schools both locally and internationally. Additionally I am in a privileged place to have studied education while at Durham University giving me a strong foundational understanding in the learning/cognitive process with a strength in equipping students with the confidence to navigate public examinations. I was awarded the prestigious Pearson Engagement Award for demonstrably improving assessment outcomes through timely digital intervention in tutoring sessions. My lessons will focus on how best to equip students for success in humanities subjects. I adopt an approach of building a toolbox that allows students to have all the necessary skills, confidence and knowledge to tackle any question that might arise in the exam. Having spent the last 6 years as a teacher I have the necessary skills to make learning applicable, accessible and enjoyable. My previous tutees speak highly of my ability to equip them with the approaches necessary to be a successful humanities student in structure and content. Finally one of my highly commended skills as a teacher is building understanding and confidence through effective questioning, drawing out ideas and knowledge through appropriate and intellectually challenging questions related to the topics discussed.

Perfect! Robbie has been one of - if not the - best teachers I’ve ever had. In my mocks, I was given a 6. After weekly lessons with Robbie, I ended up getting a 9. He levelled up my critical thinking - and most importantly - new all the techniques, tricks and tips to get tops marks in every single question.
I would highly recommend- William was a thoughtful, reflective and most importantly diligent student. Following my advice in terms of exam style and structure he really built his confidence in how to approach both simpler Paper 1 questions as well his more challenging Paper 2 questions. Furthermore, he took on my advice regarding best approaches towards revision for the breadth topic, resulting in a huge boost in confidence and results. Well done William.Robert's response :

From my experience working directly alongside Robbie, I can recommend him due to his confident subject knowledge and absolute in-depth understanding of exam boards regarding a variety of GCSE and A Level subjects. His ability to plan for KS3-KS5 pupils is commendable due to his pedagogical understanding. Furthermore, Robbie is an extremely kind and approachable teacher, and is well liked and respected by students.
Robert is an engaging and dedicated teacher, who keeps the lessons interesting, course-relevant and fun! I cannot recommend him enough.

Robert is one of those rare teachers who is able to fully communicate and break down his expansive knowledge. He knows what the exam boards want and he can prepare you accordingly. For exam preparation, I couldn't recommend him more highly.
Robbie, was a great tutor who helped me achieve an A* in A-level history when I was predicted a B. He understood what the examiners were looking for and helped me improve my essay structure as well as providing targeted revision strategies.
Robbie’s expertise in History is matched only by his ability to engage students and make learning enjoyable. Robbie's leadership shone brightly during a memorable water sports school trip to Spain, where his organisation and enthusiasm made it a fantastic experience for everyone involved.
Robbie's depth of subject knowledge and positive attitude made learning with him a pleasure! He has helped me in Year 12 to improve my analytical writing and gain a more evidence-based perspective of the subject. I would recommend him to anyone studying History A-Level or GCSE.
