About Alana
I have a University degree in Languages with Tourism Management (Spanish and French). During my degree, I spent a year abroad studying in Spain where I gained my proficiency in the language.
In addition, I am well experienced with teaching children. My goal in the next few years is to become a primary school teacher. I am currently volunteering in a primary one class which I enjoy very much. The children have welcomed me greatly and I have gained a lot of experience in teaching young children. I also volunteer in primary five class where I take part in their Spanish lessons. This experience has allowed me to gain many skills in teaching languages from a professional teacher.
Furthermore, I have experience in tutoring. In the past I have tutored many young people in languages and during my time in High school I took part in 1st year French classes helping out and giving guidance when needed. I recently tutored a young girl in French who was struggling to keep up in her classes. After our lessons, she managed to pass her exams along with her class.

My approach to teaching is a patient and calm one. Everyone learns at different paces and my lessons reflect this.
I believe that languages are the hardest academic to learn and they require focus and determination. These personality traits describe me perfectly in that I am a very focused and driven person. In my opinion, these allow me to be a great tutor and to have very effective lessons.
My lessons take the form of breaking down each aspect of the language (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and focusing on the areas in which the student needs most help. This method allows me to provide the best lesson and outcome for the student but also allows for extra practice and knowledge in each area.
