I am a Licensed K-6 teacher who has taught Grades K, 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6th grade.
I have tutored students from all grade levels between K-7th grade.
I'm an IMSE OG Certified teacher/tutor and have over 1000 hours of 1-on-1 tutoring experience.
I'm a National Board Certified Teacher

When I take on a student for tutoring I invest more than just 1 hour with that student. I am constantly thinking about how to take my students to their goal faster and get them caught up ASAP.
I deeply care for and want my students to achieve grade level proficiency or higher despite any previous teachers, tutors, or reading struggles

About the class

My Lesson:

The first day I get to know them and assess them.
I'll tell you exactly where they are at and exactly where they should be. I'll tell you the grade level they score at, what they need, and I'll create an action plan for them.

During a usual session we do:

1. Review of books that were given

2. Phonological awareness (so we're manipulating sounds and controlling speech)

3. 3 part drill
[ ] Visual (showing letter and naming the sounds. B says.... Ch says... ar says... m says... etc.
[ ] Blending (blending letters together. B - a - t = bat w-i-m= wim)
[ ] Auditory/kinesthetic ( "buh" b says "buh" while writing it in the sand board or another medium)

4. Teach a new concept
Show the new concept (this is the letter f... this is how you pronounce it, it's a consonant, this is what it says, etc.)

5. Dictation (spelling) with the new concept

6. Decodable reader of new concept
This is a passage with many words using the new concept. For example if the new concept is "f" then there will be many words using the letter f.

7. Sight words (common words we see in every book)

8. New books that are exactly their level (not too easy or too hard).

Price: $125 for a session. A session is 1 hour.
After the session you're welcome to ask me questions and talk with me on any concerns.

Minimum of 2 sessions a week. You can request more and we can talk if you would like more.
