James is an excellent tutor. He is professional, empathetic and patient. He speaks clearly and is a very friendly, reassuring person.

James is a fantastic teacher — warm, encouraging and genuinely interested in helping people develop their own voice. He has a real talent for creative writing and gives thoughtful, practical feedback without ever taking over the work. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking to develop their writing or their confidence as a writer.

As a writer as well as a tutor, James brings a particularly thoughtful understanding of English to their teaching. He has an intuitive feel for language and can explain not just what works, but why it works. James therefore has the ability to help with both everyday communication and the finer details of writing, expression, and style.

James and I were teachers at St Luke's primary school in London. He was a very warm and supportive teacher to all of his students really taking the time to get to know them and what makes them tick. He has a great nature and way with all students and wants everyone to be their best. A great memory was our world book day dress up day and James really showed imagination and made the day a success.

I have known James for over a couple of decades now. I have watched his journey as a teacher, a creative, and a producer and really appreciate his ability to reinvent himself and his wholehearted commitment to every project.

He is genuinely a delight to be around with a wicked sense of humor. He is immensely capable, and I have no doubt that he would only add to the self-confidence and learning of those who choose to study with him.

After two years living in the UK, I was still not confident with my English! Having James’s lessons was a game changer. I have improved my English and now I work as a reader and screenwriter in the UK.
