About Isla
I am a current grade 12 student who will be attending the University of British Columbia in the fall for Arts. I am someone who has always had a passion for community and people, and have volunteered as an assistant Art Teacher for elementary school students and run a peer tutoring club at my school where I taught students English, French, Art and Biology.
My journey with art started when I was very young, and I have always been driven to let my mind out with a paper and pencil. I attended a prestigious Art program and the Vancouver Art Gallery under the guidance of artists in many different artistic fields. It is my goal to be able to guide and mentor another artist to reach their full artistic capacity and step outside their comfort zone.
I find that when students learn from someone they can see eye to eye with, they are able to be comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, unlocking a deeper understanding of their topic. I believe in creating an environment for all students that is open and comfortable, allowing them to break through the mental barriers that are stopping them and flourish in their chosen topic.

I have devoted much of my life to painting and drawing, as it has become key to the person I have become, and I want to share that gift with other young artists. Every artist will be looking for something different, whether to further their skills, refine their latest works, do better in a class or to pick up a hobby for the first time. The lesson will always be devoted to the student and their success, which is why I can help in any of the following topics:
