About Maxence
I graduated with an Artist Diploma from the Royal College of Music (RCM) in 2023, having also completed my Undergraduate and Master’s degrees there. During the 2022/2023 academic year, I was honored to serve as the Musicians’ Company Constant & Kit Lambert Junior Fellow, a role that further enriched my artistic and professional journey. Teaching Experience I am currently a teacher at the Rachmaninoff Music School and the Harrow Music Service. With 13 years of experience, I have taught both privately and in music schools, helping students excel at all levels. I have a strong track record with ABRSM grade exams, with most of my students achieving distinctions. I hold an Enhanced DBS check to ensure a safe and professional teaching environment. Performance Experience As an active performer, I engage in a wide range of musical activities, including chamber music, orchestral concerts, and solo recitals. I have performed at prestigious venues such as Paris’s Cité de la Musique, the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican, and the Shanghai Philharmonie. I have collaborated with esteemed artists, including Maxim Vengerov, Olivier Charlier, Sir Antonio Pappano, and the late Bernard Haitink. My festival appearances include the Festival de Saint-Denis (France) and the Westport Chamber Music Festival (Ireland).

Having devoted most of my life learning the violin, I have encountered many great professors, each of them adding their print to my teaching spectrum. This wide exposure allows me to adapt my lessons to the needs and goals of each of my students. Here are a couple of points I try to develop during my lessons. Comfort: Being a shoulder-mounted instrument, violin learning tends to be a tiring process. During the lessons, I always make sure that the student feels comfortable with the instrument, correcting the posture when necessary, as this is the base of a healthy playing and prevents any type of injury. Listening: Having no frets or keys on the violin can make it a scary instrument at first. However, with a step-by-step learning, as well as developing the listening skills, all of my students easily develop and sharpen their pre-existing skills, making the violin much less of a mystery. Memory: Learning the violin is an excellent way to develop memory skills of different types (visual/auditory/sensorial). I always encourage my students to play by memory as soon as they can. I do believe that the best part of playing an instrument comes when you break free from the boundaries of the music score. With a step-by-step learning, all of my students manage to develop and improve their memory skills, making the fun part more accessible. Personality: Playing an instrument is a great way to affirm your personality. As a teacher, I always encourage my students to put their own words/ideas/images on the music they are playing. I believe this helps them develop confidence and imagination, as well as the ability to defend their point.

Maxence is a very experienced and dedicated teacher. I have known Maxence for a few years and describe him as an incredibly friendly, stern and professional person. He is a wonderful violinist and has the upmost passion for teaching. I fully recommend studying with Maxence, he has a mountain of knowledge, the patience, dedication and the ability to take your violin playing to a higher level.
I first met Maxence when studying together at the Royal College of Music, we were both in the class of the same amazing violin professor and now he is a great colleague especially in the teaching field. Maxence is committed and serious both about his own playing and his students. He is a wonderful violinist and is bringing that knowledge also into his teaching. He is reliable, organised and communicates clearly. I would definitely trust my students with him!
I started violin lessons with Maxence a few months ago and I've seen a lot of progress. He's very supportive and explains everything in a very simple and understandable way to build solid foundations, while correcting what needs improvement for a better long term playing.
He took into consideration what I wanted to learn and I'm always happy to go to my lesson and leaving cheerful and proud of myself.Maxence has been a close friend of mine and trusted colleague for many years now. I have worked with him in various contexts as a professional musician myself, and I can say with absolute confidence that he is an exceptional musician as well as being a kind and caring person. Can't recommend Maxence enough as a music teacher.
Having known Maxence as a friend and colleague for the last 7 years whilst at the RCM, I can attest to both his integrity and musicianship. He has continued to excel in his musical career and never fails to create a distinctive and well defined sound when performing.
It is this skill in performance and mastery of the violin that lends Maxence his particularly enhanced teaching skills when compared to other musicians. For it is Maxence's understanding of the fundamental tenets of violin playing and music theory that has provided a solid foundation upon which he has built his skills.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Maxence as a violin teacher for those at any stage on the violin and am confident that his future students will benefit greatly from his tutelage, as so many others in the past have already done.
I have been taking lessons with Maxence for almost 2 years now, and cannot emphasise enough how much he has helped me. Over my 17 years of playing the violin, I have had many tutors, and Maxence is by far the one who has helped me perfect my technique and my sound more than anyone else.
Highly professional, trustworthy and reliable. Maxence is a brilliant teacher for students of all levels and ages. He has plenty of experience with beginner students as well as the required preparation for ABRSM examination.
