My approach to teaching begins with seeing my students as individuals. So, I make myself available and approachable to them. During class, I extend to them courtesy and respect for their ideas by asking for their input on how to proceed with examples and exercises and incorporating their answers into my work, as appropriate. My teaching begins before class by preparing myself and materials for my students. Guided by the syllabus I created for the student and the related parts of the course texts, I prepare each tutorial as a series of written notes where I include multiple and varied examples for each concept. I always select examples first for their usefulness in understanding the topic, and second as examples of how to work through the problems. I also seek to create a graded series of examples that show the possible difficulties in applying a method. Finally, I review each tutorial’s topics to catch any possible mistakes and identify places where my students might require extra help, either through recalling a useful fact that we need to apply or through additional examples. I always encourage and welcome questions from my students. In doing so, I am emphasizing the importance of questions in mathematics and science in general. If appropriate, I answer a student’s question with an example and I invite the questioner to help me work it out. My teaching finishes after the tutorial, when I remind my students that I am available to them (by email or text message) even in the time between the tutorials and guide them to work they should do in their spare time. I show I am available by lingering after the end of the tutorial to answer immediate questions. And when they do email me, I address their concerns directly and encourage them to work with me using the email communication to arrive at their answers.

SAT 2 Maths tuition
Jarek tutored our son in Higher Maths. Our son went from below average to a B grade pass in higher maths in a matter of 5 months after regular tutoring with Jarek. Very helpful, patient and with extensive knowledge about subject. We found Jarek to always be pleasant, very punctual and very flexible, always working around our schedule. We would highly recommend Jarek as a tutor. My daughter Julia had tuitions with Jarek for a few months to help her with the maths section in the Natural Sciences Admission Assessment for Cambridge University. He was very methodical and thorough in going through the specification and made sure to go through more complex examples of each of the points described. My daughter had no habitations in asking for help on specific topics and he had always prepared a set of related questions in a similar style to the exam for them to work through. Julia told me that it was very helpful to have those exam-style programs for her technique. Jaroslaw was always enthusiastic and happy to help (even by email between the sessions) with whatever problems Julia had as well. Thanks to lessons with Jarek my daughter is confident and doing very well but if she would need maths revision or support Jarek is our first and only choice. Thanks a lot.
Jarek tutored my daughter in National 5 Maths so that she could secure her place at University. Jarek was a very pleasant, understanding tutor who was very encouraging and allowed my daughter to believe in herself. She achieved an ‘A’ securing her place at University.
We highly recommend Jarek as a tutor.View more recommendations
