About Matthew
I'm Matthew, a professional trumpet player based in the UK with over 20 years of performance experience. I've played
at some of the world's most iconic venues including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC and
Belfast's Ulster Hall, and spent over 15 years touring and performing with a ska band including two European tours.
Music has been a constant throughout my life and I'm passionate about helping others develop their skills and
confidence on the trumpet. I understand what it takes to perform under pressure — whether that's on a big stage or
in an exam room — and I bring that perspective to every lesson.
I teach because I want students to experience the same joy and satisfaction that music has given me. I'm patient,
encouraging and genuinely invested in each student's progress.

I'm a professional trumpet player who has performed with orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Belfast's Ulster Hall,
and toured Europe twice with a ska band. I bring over 20 years of real performance experience to every lesson.
I teach trumpet and music theory online for ABRSM Grades 1–5, tailored to each student's age, pace and goals.
Lessons are relaxed but focused — typically 30 or 60 minutes depending on the student's level and concentration. I
cover technique, scales, exam repertoire, sight reading and theory, and I'm fully familiar with the current ABRSM
Brass syllabus from 2023.
Whether you're a complete beginner, preparing for your next grade exam, or tackling Grade 5 theory before moving to
higher practical grades, I'll give you clear, practical guidance and genuine musical insight from years on stage.
