About Juan da Fonte
Graduated in percussion by Escuela de Música Creativa de Madrid, he specialized in traditional music, interested in the collective potential that it suggests and facilitates. He led several creative and pedagogical percussion ensembles where the diversity of knowledge, cultures and paths could stimulate musical creation and sharing (including Ethno Catalonia, Ethno Portugal, organized in collaboration with the PedeXumbo Association; and the Ethnic Percussion Ensemble founded in Porto in 2017).

My teaching method mixes oral transmission together with techniques and methodologies for teaching western music and oriental music. I teach the rhythms and techniques of different world percussion instruments and adapt them to the instruments we have at our disposal. Rhythms from Colombia, Cuba, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Turkey, Egypt, Portugal ... They are learned and adapted. I also teach how to analyze, read and write percussion with different methodologies. Many of the rhythms we learn traditionally are played in groups, in my classes we also learn and adapt all of these percussion you.

Sou uma aluna do Juan há 2 anos. Ele consegue extrair o melhor dos seus alunos, e para além de ser alguém bastante fácil de comunicar, é bastante paciente e atencioso para com os ritmos de aprendizagem de cada aluno. Desde primeira aula, nota-se que é alguém que sabe muito de música étnica/tradicional ( sempre combinada com criatividade e diversão) e que tem todo o gosto em partilhar connosco o seu conhecimento.
