About Ian
I began playing guitar at 11, going straight into classical lessons for the first 2 years. I began by learning how to read music and soon developed a skill for sight reading. I then moved onto electric guitar in my teens, learning every song I could, learning to read TAB and playing along by ear.
I graduated Popular Music at the University of Salford, concentrating on guitar performance and composition. I learnt a lot about jazz guitar and playing music with others. I also wrote my own songs and played in many bands, gigging around Manchester.
Today, I write my own music, play and record with my band and teach guitar with Trafford Music Services in schools.

I currently guide my students through the grade books within schools, teaching how to both read music and play the guitar. I also have adult students who simply wish to learn their favourite songs. It's up to you! I'm happy to help and guide you through your learning.
