About Rafi
Teaching is my greatest passion and I am always developing and refining my methodology. Over this last decade, I have developed a method which I strongly believe can get even the most unlikely students to the top of their classes. I was introduced to this approach when I was studying for my own school exams over 10 years ago. I was struggling in Maths, predicted an E grade and encouraged to drop the subject by my teacher. Instead, I ended up achieving an A* and a 97% average, the only student in my school to achieve an average over 95% over all 6 A Level maths papers. A few years later, I would go on to achieve a First class degree in BSc Political Economy from King's College London, graduating in the top 2% of my class. Not bad for an E grade prediction student! The secret was a more systematic approach that prioritised mastering the fundamentals first, as well as developing creativity and broader problem-solving skills, before moving on to repetition and exam-style questions. I had a brilliant tutor at the time who introduced me to this method, one that years later, I have developed and refined to help countless other students achieve both excellent grades in a range of different subjects, as well as a genuine passion for learning and personal development. As my approach requires a lot of preparation, I prefer to only take on a small number of students at any one time, usually up to 4/5 maximum. That allows me to fully commit to each student, to take the time to go through their past work in order to identify any patterns and gaps in their knowledge, to create a detailed, systematic, long-term plan for their learning, as well as to create homework, videos and other resources to support their learning outside of lessons. When I’m not tutoring, I coach football, a passion that perfectly aligns with my greater passion for teaching and mentoring. My specialities are Economics (all ages), English (all ages), essays (especially economics, politics and other humanities) and Science (A Level and below), though I have also tutored History and Geography in the past.
