About Jamie
I am a composer and conductor primarily writing opera, multimedia staged orchestral works and large-scale installation pieces. Your music, why you write it and what you want it to say is central to our sessions. I will listen and offer technical, musical or philosophical reference points to help you achieve what you are imagining. In my experience, as an early career composer and conductor, I found the best teachers and mentors were ones who had a good understanding of the international commissioning circuit and were themselves, working composers and conductors with strong artistic voices. They also understood the importance of prioritising 'why and what' I was trying to achieve without necessarily imposing their own aesthetics. This is central to how I teach and provide private consultation. My online sessions usually last an hour and can be as regular or irregular as you wish.
