I had an amazing time studying with James. He was patient, positive, and fun, which made me feel comfortable and supported, especially after taking a long break from playing. His passion for music and expertise helped boost both my skills and confidence. It was truly a privilege to learn from him.

Jim is patient and thoughtful. He takes time to explain things in a way that reaches me personally. And he has a great sense of humor.

Maestro Jeter is a seasoned professional whose musicianship and bassoon expertise knows no bounds. In addition to his knowledge, he brings a very personable, historical, and methodical approach to his teaching. It is a joy to study bassoon with this generous and kind man.

Patient, knowledgeable, accessible. Suited lessons to my ability but pushed just a little to keep me moving forward. One of my better teachers over the years and lots of moving about

There was a world of information that I did not know. He quickly assessed the situation and began to impart me with foundational information. With very little experience on the instrument I imagine it to be a challenge for an instructor. Jim was not daunted by my inexperience. I found Jim to be extremely patient and highly knowledgeable.

My experience studying with James was life changing . Not only is he a consummate musician and first class teacher he took the time to help me choose which conservatories to audition for and helped me prepare thoroughly for my auditions . I’m now happily in one of the best conservatories in the USA and have only James to thank !
