About Ari

I am currently a full-time professional producer, songwriter, and guitarist with a focus in alternative/indie pop, dance, and R&B. I'm a guitarist by trade, and have been in music over 12 years, and producing music to some degree for 10 of those years. I am most experienced in Ableton, but am proficient and capable of teaching in Logic and GarageBand.

About the class

I try to relate to each student individually, and start by getting to know where they're at currently with their music production skills and where they want to be after taking lessons. After that, we move together at whatever pace the student is capable of and comfortable with! These lessons are for anyone -- producers looking to take their music to the "next level" or beginners who have never made any music before!

Perfect! Ari is clearly a knowledgeable audio engineer and producer. Even though I am only 2 lessons in at this time, I have already learned a great deal, and Ari is very kind and patient in explaining terminology, the way things work (EQing, compression, multiband compression, etc), and ensuring I have a good foundational understanding of what we are talking about. I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity to continue learning from him, and looking forward to seeing my knowledge continue to grow, and my music continue to benefit from it!

Can’t speak highly enough of Ari. He goes above and beyond to make sure his students are really grasping the material he is teaching. He takes the time to sit and go over questions, while also spending extra time to focus on more rigorous areas of coursework. If I could give him 6 stars I would!

The way that Ari is able to explain difficult concepts into an easy to understand format, really helps you grasp and learn so much easier. If anyone gets the chance to have him as a tutor, take it!

Ari really took the time to understand where my skills were before we started lessons and made clear path on how we could achieve where I wanted to get to. He was very patient with me on things I didn’t understand well and did a great job at simplifying things when needed. He helped me gain confidence in myself and my skills. Would highly recommend Ari as your teacher!

Find out more about Ari

When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?
I started playing guitar and really becoming interested in music when I was about 10 or 11. My brother was picking up drumming around the same time so we played a lot together!
Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
What I'm listening to is always changing honestly, so it's hard to give just one genre! Sometimes it's indie rock, sometimes it's pop, sometimes it's electronic, or country, or hiphop.
Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
The best course I could give someone is really how to write & produce music from the ground up. Starting with a melody or lyric or sound idea in your head, and getting all the way to a professional sounding finished product you could release on Spotify or Apple Music.
What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
Respect to the drummers out there!! I'm always impressed by a good drummer.
What are your keys to success?
The only one is to love what you're doing. If you really enjoy it, you will want to do it all the time, and "practicing" won't even be how you view it!
Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
Tough one, but let's go with… Nile Rodgers, Tom Misch, and Quincy Jones. All huge influences on me musically and all insanely talented in their own right.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
In high school was when I really started playing in a band, and I remember always being so excited to play our annual "Battle of the Bands".
What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?
I think I have an easy time relating to each student individually and finding ways to phrase/explain things in a way that makes sense to the student. I'm not one to overcomplicate things that don't need to be overcomplicated!

Producer with over 10 years of professional experience. I will show you how to get your music sounding professional, ready for Spotify or the radio! Any genre -- indie/alternative, pop, R&B, hiphop. A
