About Krisztina
I earned my PhD from the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University. My academic journey, however, spans multiple countries and disciplines: I previously studied in Hungary, Syria and Israel, earning three MAs in Arabic Studies, Hebrew Studies and Religious Studies. Along the way, I explored history from the Ancient Near East and Classical Antiquity through to the early modern period, and delved deeply into Religious Studies: Islamic and Jewish Studies, Christianity and Theology.
I am also familiar, to varying degrees, with a wide array of languages, both premodern and modern: Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Latin, Russian, Ukrainian, French, German and Hungarian, among others. After completing my PhD, I held positions at the University of Cambridge and the Freie Universität Berlin.
I am deeply passionate about disseminating knowledge through teaching, research and writing. I believe in the power of original scholarship to advance understanding, and I am committed to the highest ethical standards in research and publication. At its core, my work is driven by the conviction that a richer understanding of humanity’s history across the globe can ultimately help us build a better world.

Are you looking for someone with exceptional attention to detail to copyedit and/or proofread your work? You’ve come to the right place. I will meticulously edit your writing to ensure that your ideas are clearly communicated, while your style, formatting, references and bibliography fully adhere to the style guide you are required or choose to follow. Every piece I work on will be spelled, punctuated and referenced accurately and consistently from start to finish.
If your text is in American English, I can convert it to British English, and vice versa. I am comfortable working with a wide variety of academic texts in the social sciences and humanities, as well as non-fiction texts on any historical topic. As an academic familiar with multiple languages—including modern and premodern varieties of Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Russian, Ukrainian and Hungarian—I can also ensure the accuracy of spelling, formatting and transcriptions in these languages.
I am happy to provide tutorial sessions to help you improve your writing. These sessions typically last 30–60 minutes, occasionally longer, and can be scheduled as one-off or regular meetings, both online and in person. I currently work in Cambridge as a copyeditor for an academic publisher affiliated with the University of Cambridge.
Although I am not a native English speaker, this has been an advantage: I have never taken my knowledge of English for granted. I am deeply attentive to grammar and punctuation, and I have read extensively on writing well in English. Over the years, I have published hundreds, written thousands, and read millions of pages in English, and I regularly edit and proofread the work of native English speakers.
If you are interested in working with me, we can discuss your requirements via email, online or in-person meetings. You will need to provide a sample of your work, which I will read before giving you an estimate for the time required. Payment is required in advance.
For the avoidance of doubt: I will thoroughly edit and meticulously proofread your work, but I will not write it for you. My goal is to make your writing as clear, polished and professional as possible, while respecting your voice and ideas.

I met Krisztina more than 20 years ago, when I was a postdoc in the US and she was a PhD student. She helped me read through Arabic philosophical texts from the Middle Ages. She understood the (to me) nearly incomprehensible texts with ease and explained them to me with endless patience.. She is conscientious, knowledgeable, nice--the perfect tutor.

Traveling to Egypt for work time to time, I wanted to be able to read newspapers and follow news on radio and TV. While at home, I took a lesson every week for six months with Krisztina, followed her intensive study plan between the lessons. When I returned to Egypt, I could understand most of the news. If my time allows, I am happy to take on copyediting or proofreading projects with tight deadlines. Please note that a turnaround shorter than 48 hours incurs a 50% surcharge.
I have not specified travel expenses because these can vary. Travel within many Cambridge locations is free, but if I need to travel outside this area, we will agree on the expenses in advance.
