About Katie
I am currently studying Primary Education with Numeracy Specialism at the University of Stirling. I completed National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Maths with As in all of these and have a passion for teaching. I am studying to be a teacher and I have always received positive feedback on lessons I have taught and lesson plans I have created. Also important to note that I do hold a PVG. I would be willing to work through certain topics that needed more focus, and also go through past papers and help with specific questions that are brought to me too. I have experience in creating lesson plans and differentiating to meet different needs as I am studying primary teaching and have completed three primary school placements with varying ages and abilities. I have had experience tutoring multiple students throughout the last academic year and also tutored younger siblings, one of which went on to study Advanced Higher Maths and now does product design engineering.

Usually, I would tutor for both Scottish National 5 and Higher maths, for hour-long sessions, as well as for primary or early secondary level students too. I have helped younger siblings in the run-up to exams over the last few years and supported multiple students last academic year too.
For a standard N5/ Higher lesson, we will start with a past paper question on what we worked on the previous week to see if you are now more confident in this. We would then choose a topic that you would like to go over and do worked examples together and then try some questions alone that I can mark. In the run-up to exams, we focus on past paper questions and work on timing, and I can target any other areas that need extra support too.
For other lessons, these are more interactive with games working on key skills and areas, as well as practice questions/ worksheets etc that I go through with the student.

Katie is an excellent tutor and one I wouldn't hesitate to turn to again in the future. Her teaching style is patient, friendly and kind and let me work through problems at my own pace and as many times as I needed. She has been a great help to me and will be an great choice for you too!
Katie helped me with my maths for my National 5 and Higher and I got an A for both exams. I’m now doing Advanced Higher Maths and will be contacting Katie again if I start to struggle. Katie was very patient and had a good clear way of explaining the different topics.

Details
The first session is completely free! This is not always a full hour as this is usually getting to know the student and their needs so that I can plan for other sessions more effectively.
If a lesson is not cancelled with 24hr notice, this is still paid for (except for emergencies).
If no show after 15 mins of me waiting in the call for you (without any message or notice of you running late), the paid session will not go ahead (unless this was an emergency situation and I will then pay you back for it).
If you do give me notice for you running late, I may be able to still have a full hour with you but if not, you only need to pay for how much of the lesson you were there for (eg. if I know you're going to be 20 mins late and I cannot change your time due to back to back lessons, you only pay for 40 mins of lesson).
