About Mai
My work is shaped by nature and human interaction. I enjoy exploring different storytelling formats to connect with audiences, especially picture books and animation. My practice focuses on drawing and experimentation, using traditional mixed media to convey emotion, and then collaging or enhancing them digitally. As someone who is AuDHD, I understand firsthand the importance of a safe, supportive environment, as well as the value of artistic expression as a form of self-discovery.

I'm Mai, a Vietnamese illustrator, picture book maker, and fashion designer, holding an MA in Sequential Design/Illustration (UK) and a BA in Fashion Design (VN). I've taught art to children and adults, and worked with a wide range of ages and abilities as a Student Ambassador during my MA. My teaching style is calm and patient: I focus on helping students build a strong foundation while supporting them in reaching their own goals.
