• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I completed my schooling under the CBSE curriculum with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as my core subjects in Classes 11 and 12. I continued with the same combination during my bachelor's degree, where I studied all three subjects equally. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Physics.Throughout my academic journey, Physics stood out as the subject that fascinated me the most because it explains the real world in a logical and meaningful way. When I decided to pursue teaching, I revisited the entire Physics curriculum from Class 6 to Class 12, this time from a teacher's perspective. Exploring the concepts in depth and understanding how to explain them effectively made the subject even more interesting and strengthened my passion for teaching Physics.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  My motivation for choosing teaching comes from a passion that I've had since childhood. Even during my school days, especially in Classes 9 and 10, I enjoyed helping my classmates by explaining concepts and clearing their doubts. Teaching always gave me a sense of satisfaction, and that's when I realized it was something I genuinely loved.Another major source of inspiration has been my uncle, Dr. Vineet Kumar, who is a scientist at the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT). He specializes in Physics and works on particle accelerators. Growing up, I often listened to him talk about his educational journey, research, and experiences as a scientist. Those conversations sparked my curiosity about Physics and inspired me to explore the subject more deeply. Over time, that curiosity grew into a genuine passion, ultimately motivating me to pursue Physics as my field of study and teaching as my profession.

• How does your work help society?

  I believe that education has the power to create meaningful change in society, and I want my work to contribute to that change. Currently, I am based in Mysuru, where I volunteer as a teacher with the NGO Make A Difference (MAD). Through this initiative, I teach students who may not have access to quality educational resources.For me, knowledge should never be limited to those who can afford it. I strongly believe that education should reach every child who is willing to learn, regardless of their background. If the knowledge and skills I've gained can help improve someone's future or make even a small positive impact on society, I consider that one of the most fulfilling aspects of being a teacher.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  When I think about the role models who have influenced my journey, two people immediately come to mind.The first is my uncle, Dr. Vineet Kumar, a scientist at the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT). His work in Physics, particularly in the field of particle accelerators, and the conversations I had with him about science and research inspired me to develop a deep interest in Physics. He played a significant role in shaping my academic aspirations.The second person is my senior from college, Dinesh Bhaiya, who is currently pursuing research in the field of education at IIT Kharagpur. I had the opportunity to be his student for a year, and his passion for teaching left a lasting impression on me. The way he explains concepts, engages with students, and approaches teaching with genuine enthusiasm motivates me to become a better teacher every day. His dedication has shown me that teaching is not just about delivering content—it's about inspiring students to learn and grow.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside of teaching, I enjoy staying active through sports. I love playing cricket, basketball, and badminton, as they help me stay energetic and maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life.Music is another important part of my life. I enjoy both listening to music and singing. I'm also a member of my college's music club, and I always look forward to participating in singing events and performances whenever I get the opportunity.Apart from that, I have a strong interest in technology. I enjoy exploring new tools, especially AI and educational technologies, and often spend my free time learning new skills. I like experimenting with different platforms to create better notes, improve my teaching methods, and make learning more engaging for my students. I believe that continuously learning and adapting to new technologies helps me grow as both a teacher and a lifelong learner.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  One incident from my student life has had a lasting impact on the kind of teacher I want to become. When I was in middle school, around Classes 6 to 8, one of our teachers rarely taught us the subject in class. Before exams, he would simply give us the expected questions and ask us to memorize the answers. At that age, we thought it was wonderful because it made scoring marks very easy.However, as I grew older, I realized how much we had actually missed. Instead of developing an understanding of the subject, we had only memorized answers. Even today, I feel that my foundation in Social Science isn't as strong as it could have been because I never had the opportunity to truly learn it.That experience taught me an important lesson as a teacher. I never want my students to study just for marks or memorization. My goal is to help them understand concepts, develop curiosity, and enjoy the learning process. If my students leave my classroom with genuine understanding, I consider that a much greater achievement than simply helping them score well on an exam.
