About John
I’m a Physics graduate with a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and a professional background as a software engineer. I’ve worked on everything from AI-driven systems to onboarding pipelines, and I’ve previously supported students as a teaching assistant, which sparked my love for helping others learn. I also represented Team GB in Modern Pentathlon and have mentored younger athletes, so I understand how to support students under pressure and help them perform at their best. Whether you’re aiming to boost grades or get to grips with tricky topics, I’ll help you break things down and make real progress. Outside of my academic and professional background, I’m passionate about living a healthy, balanced lifestyle. I enjoy strength training & bodybuilding, follow a vegan diet, and share my home with two cats and a dog. I'm currently training to become a full-time financial trader, and in my spare time, you’ll usually find me reading about markets, at the gym, or watching car content on YouTube. I offer online GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics lessons, tailored to each student’s needs and suitable for all exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc). I teach online via Zoom, using an iPad to write & move easily between screens and make lessons as efficient and engaging as possible. My sessions are highly interactive and visual, often using diagrams, screen sharing, and video resources to bring concepts to life. In our first session, I take time to understand the student’s goals, learning style, and current relationship with maths. From there, we’ll identify key focus areas and create a tailored, structured plan for the weeks ahead. My teaching emphasises clear, logical problem-solving and strengthening written mathematical communication — both essential for exam success. I encourage students to practise regularly between sessions and bring along any tricky questions they encounter. This keeps our lessons focused, personalised, and responsive. In my experience, the students who make the most progress — and achieve the highest grades — are the ones who come to lessons prepared and ready to engage.
