I am a composer, teacher, and editor of music with 15 years' experience teaching students from beginner to university level. I hold a PhD in Music and have a particular interest in helping students develop their musical understanding, confidence, and exam skills. My professional experience as a composer and editor informs my teaching, allowing me to support students in areas including analysis, composition, theory, and performance. My own compositions have been performed across Europe.

To support progress between sessions, I provide clear guidance and specific tasks to work on independently. I also provide formative feedback after each lesson, often through written notes, so students have a clear understanding of their progress and priorities for future work. My approach is structured, supportive, and adapted to each student's individual ambitions.

Composition classes are £45 per hour. I operate a 24 hour cancellation policy. If a lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice and a mutually agreeable replacement lesson cannot be arranged in the same week, then the lesson will still be charged.
