About Tavian
I have been playing chess since I was 5 years old but I didn’t take it seriously until college. I was always enamored with the endless possibilities even though each game would start the same. During high school I taught most of my friends and cousins how to play the basics and then when I started to become more advanced in college I taught 100+ students and teachers how to play and find success in this beautiful game. Now that I am a father, my son is 5 and he’s learning at such a rapid rate. I taught my nieces and nephews and my nephew at 14 years old just won his second chess tournament. Chess has become not only my passion but a way to navigate through life's challenges.

On the surface it’s just a board game that seems complicated at first. But you don’t need a PhD or college education to learn chess. I want to show the world anyone can play and not only play but find success. Life is Chess. Strategizing and determining your next moves, depending on the outcomes of your circumstances is a real-world mentality we can all adopt. And thinking multiple steps ahead as well as adapting on the fly are the fundamentals of life. I will be that bridge for those that lack the confidence or understanding of Chess and in other ways will improve their confidence, decision making, game planning and more through this journey!
