About Ryan
It's been my experience that the best way for students to learn a new lesson is to also be in the process of solidifying past knowledge. Often my strategy, metaphorically, fits the model of "See, the X that you're learning now, is really just like Y that you already know, with just a little spin Z on it." That usually results in an ah-ha! moment. If, according to current academic demands, the student just needs to learn new material fast without a strong foundation, I can work with that student to make it feel like second nature fast, allowing for deep learning to occur later, after pressing academic needs are eased.
I genuinely enjoy watching people progress and consider their success to be mine. My bread and butter is basically just giving away whatever I know, which to me is a really honorable position to be in.
In case you want to know, I have many interests outside math as well, but as with anything, math can be applied to some advantage, for example, even in art.

I have a B.S. in Computer Science from Indiana State University, earning nearly a Minor in Mathematics, and have taught and tutored Math at New Mexico State University for 2 years. I am enrolled in a Master's in Math Education at a university overseas where I scored in the 98th percentile in the entrance exam. I tutored Math online since 2021. My main strategy is to link every new lesson to something the student already knows, and to guide the student through new material step by step, letting the student gain practice at the same time as learning. As an aside, I scored 99 on the ASVAB (military aptitude test) allowing me to potentially work on nuclear submarines and satellite communications systems, so my quantitative reasoning is strong. Furthermore, I scored 12/12 on the essay section for teacher's college entrance exam (PPSAT). Still further I have been accepting into multiple alternative teacher licensure programs in the U.S. I have many years of experience teaching in international schools. I also happen to be a certified Java programmer and English teacher.
