About Jannika

I have been working within education for 12 years and I'm driven by an unwavering belief that knowledge is power. I believe young people should be given a well-rounded education which allows them to see and understand the world around them through different humanities topics.
I understand that not one size fits all when it comes to learning, and I am very skilled in adapting to different learning styles.

I started my career in education as an English as a Second Language teacher in China where I then continued to work with international students before working as a humanities teacher in London. I have been a teaching assistant, intervention teacher, class tutor, and a second in department for history and have amassed a great wealth of knowledge and skills to support young people with their learning.

About the class

Lessons will not only be a place to learn skills needed to successfully study humanities, but an environment where curiosity and willingness to explore topics is encouraged.

50 minute lessons will always start with a short quiz to retrieve knowledge from your long-term memory, I will then support with the mastery of skills with I Teach - We Check - You practise.

I began teaching humanities (History, Geography and Religious Studies) to KS3 students who struggled to access the mainstream UK curriculum and needed support with more accessible lessons and resources to help with their engagement, participation and success.
I then taught humanities to all classes within KS3 and KS4, with a history specialism at GCSE. This year's GCSE results for my class had a 94% pass rate (4-9), and the history department had its best results yet and most successful throughout the Academy Trust.

My lessons are suitable for any level of learner within KS3 or KS4 (11-16 years old). Happy to teach Year 6 students who would like to prepare for KS3 humanities.
