• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  When I passed the 5th grade, my school gave me the option to learn a foreign language. Without a second thought, I picked French! For some reason, it seemed absolutely fascinating to me. I remember going to every senior, asking their opinion and wondering why would someone not want to learn french. The beauty, the simplicity and the grace of this language attracted me the most. From than day to now, it's been more than 7 years and I still feel the fresh love for the subject.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  I faced many problems during my student days, as learning a language from scratch could be very overwhelming and difficult. There were so many things which I wanted and sometimes the method would not suit me. This was the motivation behind me choosing to teach. I want to prove that learning French could be more fun than difficult. I like putting it this way: Learning French was an investment I made in myself and now it's time for me to help others with their investment of learning the language.

• How does your work help society?

  My work has helped businessmen get international clients, working professionals get the dream job in Canada and school students get confidence. It has also made freshers stand out in job applications. When I think of all this, I feel that my work is bringing people together with a shared international language but at the same time, making them stand out from the crowd and giving them the confidence to face the crowd.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  My teacher, who taught me french! I was about to quit and not go for higher levels of French but she saw me when I was invisible, made me realise my potential and opened a window of opportunity for me. Also, my teaching is inspired by her methods as she was absolutely amazing and the best in her field.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  I love public speaking. I am a passionate orator and public speaker. During my free time, I attend various toastmasters and other speaking club's meetings. It helps me broaden my vision and also challenges me to explain my thoughts better, which in turn helps me with my work i.e teaching French. Moreover, I am soon going to start taking flute lessons as I always wanted to learn this magical instrument. I am also a space enthusiast who always looks for opportunities in the space sector.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  One of my students was facing a lot of problem with the language but he wanted to challenge himself to be better. One day, he sent me a screenshot of how he managed to talk to a Dutch client in French and how impressed they were. That made me feel so valuable, I was so happy to know that the efforts I have been putting in my students are actually helping them ripe the fruits!
