About Matilda
I am a first class graduate of English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford — for my BA & MSt. I’m currently working on a DPhil in English in Oxford also. I have extensive knowledge of both my subject, and the Oxbridge system, and I enjoy teaching students and developing their knowledge and love for literature.
My specific research interests are Early Modern literature, bibliography and book history, but my experience includes a vast range of literary schools and work - from early medieval texts to modernist poetry.
I am passionate about breaking down barriers and demystifying Oxford entrance: if you have any questions about colleges, day-to-day life, or the English Lit Undergrad, MSt or DPhil course, please message me. I am happy to answer informal questions, and provide my opinion!

My lessons combine rigorous knowledge of exam board specifications with fostering a genuine love for literature. Throughout my lessons, I encourage my students to develop specific skills; I mark essays, provide detailed feedback and specifically focus on an individual student's needs. I am happy to teach all students up to Undergraduate level, and am especially experienced supporting students on the GCSE and A Level syllabus.
One of my favourite things to teach is Academic Enrichment, which involves developing a talented student's knowledge of English Literature, beyond the syllabus, in order to better prepare them for University entrance and their personal statement. I also offer rigorous ELAT entrance support, with an intensive approach combining an extensive practice schedule and multiple past papers, in order to prepare a student for the complexities of Oxford entrance.

Details
Academic Enrichment sessions are £35/hour, due to their flexible nature and less syllabus specific content. I don't often offer regular Personal Statement sessions, or interview prep, but if this is something you're interested in, I am open to giving one-off sessions on both.
