About Aliyah
I finished my English degree at Oxford University in July 2011 and followed this with several years of tutoring before going on to work in a sixth-form college as an Academic Mentor and part-time teacher of English at A2 level.
I offer English Literature tuition at A-level. My love of tutoring comes from my lifelong fascination with and my thorough training in English.
As an Academic Mentor, I tutored 50+ students for AS, A-level, GCSE retakes and study skills across all English subject areas (including Language) for Edexcel and AQA exam boards.
While teaching English Literature, I covered all parts of the AQA English Literature B syllabus, for the Gothic option exam. I also taught coursework modules for AQA English Literature B at AS and A2 and for Edexcel English Literature at AS level, and marked coursework modules for AQA English Literature B.
I have a recent qualification in mentoring and a current CRB check.
I love reading, writing, watching films and walking my dog, Rilke.

My specialism is in tutoring English Literature for students or groups of students in Year 12 or 13, helping you gain writing skills and self-belief that will help you change your grade. All my tutees have raised their results by at least two grades from their original resit levels, one gaining a grade of 107/120 on their A-level coursework.
Together we'll design a scheme of work which will break down into key skills and greatly increase your confidence, helping you achieve your goals. During tutoring, we can troubleshoot work set in class, analyse your set texts, improve your writing skills or I can teach you from my own examples.
One thing I will always try to do is to boost your confidence by a deep diagnosis of any writing issues. I love showing students how to write confidently and teaching you writing skills that you normally only start gaining a real understanding of at university.
I can help you focus on achievement. I've worked with many high-achieving students for intensive coursework and exam preparation support to help them boost their grades.
I believe in offering flexible session lengths and giving you feedback on written work.
I also work with students who are preparing for an interview at Oxford or Cambridge for English and can coach you in how to demonstrate your skills and approach the interview.
