About Laura
Hello! I'm Laura and I have been working in theater for over 15 years. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Production and Design.
I have designed sound, sets, and lighting for hundreds of shows, and love getting to see a vision come to life through design. I have also directed and movement directed many shows, working with kids and adults. One of my favorite things is nurturing the development of new works and facilitating collective creation. Collaboration is at the heart of everything I do and I love helping people find their creative spark!

We will use an interactive hands on approach to learn different techniques and methods to explore a variety of work. You can either come to the class with a work that you wish to develop, or we can use an existing play or piece of writing to jumpstart the process. We will use improvised movement and scene work as a key tool to explore text, as well as free writing to develop text.
If desired, we can also dive into the basics of theatre design and how it can be used to further your artistic vision. We can explore how to light a scene, how to edit sound effects and create cue lists, and where to begin when imagining a set design.
This course is for beginners and working theatre artists. It can be tailored to fit your specific needs and focus. Let's work together to make the perfect course for you!
