About Shandon
Hey! My name’s Shandon and I’d love to be your child’s Spanish tutor as Spanish has been my passion since I started studying it 15 years ago.
I previously started my own Spanish tutoring business, for which I taught over 1,000 online lessons, created a Spanish learning podcast that has 180,000 downloads and also grew audiences on TikTok (20,000 followers), Instagram (4.7K followers) and YouTube (2.1K subscribers) through providing educational Spanish content.
Before that, I graduated from Durham University with a 2:1 degree in Economics and Spanish, meaning I’ve studied Spanish to a high level.
As part of my degree, I spent a year abroad living and working in Spain, Colombia and Perú. I’ve also spent time travelling in México and Bolivia - the knowledge and experience I’ve gained from living in Spanish-speaking environments is something I’d love to pass onto your child.
And City of London School, one of the best schools in the country, is where I went to secondary school, achieving A* grades in IGCSE and A Level Spanish.
All of this experience and success combined means I’m the perfect tutor to help your child achieve the top grades in their Spanish exams and overcome any struggles they might have with the language.
Outside of tutoring, I:

Success with Spanish is about taking what you’ve learned and applying it to speaking and writing practice, while also making learning as relatable as possible to each student.
For each topic, we’ll first speak in English about the topic. I’ll ask your child questions to see how their lives relate to the topic: for example, if we’re learning about Food and Drink, I’ll learn what your child’s favourite foods are and ask them other food-related questions.
Then, we’ll cover the vocabulary to speak about these things in Spanish before going into a question and answer format, where I’ll ask questions about the topic to get your child using the vocabulary we’ve learned and what they already know to respond to questions, either in spoken or written form.
If particular grammar points or gaps in your child’s knowledge come up, we’ll then go back to speaking English to go through these points in detail, with lots of examples to ensure your child understands how to improve.
In this way, we’ll cover everything your child needs to succeed in their Spanish exams in a way that ensures they’ll retain more of what we’ve learned and that the learning will be enjoyable.
Plus, your child will practise all four skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) that make up their Spanish exams, including regular past paper practice.
Lessons are 50 minutes long, slightly shorter than other tutors to ensure focus and concentration for the duration of each lesson.
