About Ruth
I am a fully qualified graduate teacher and have been giving private piano and music theory lessons for more than twenty years. I have an honours degree in music and studied piano performance, piano pedagogy, advanced theory, harmony, composition and ear training amongst other things.

I teach both online and in person. If you choose to take online piano tuition by video exchange, the first lesson is free. My online tuition is mainly by Skype video calls or by email correspondence. For music theory I offer a marking service and provide detailed feedback. Students send me scans of their music theory work (worksheets and workbooks), and I mark it, add corrections, give explanations, and answer the student's questions. For piano tuition by correspondence my students and I exchange videos. A student sends me a video of their piano playing and I give constructive feedback. I also teach piano via live video call lessons and you can use a webcam, phone or tablet. Correspondence lessons are charged at a lower rate than live lessons. Both my online and in-person tuition is tailored to the individual student and I am happy to prepare pupils for exams or help them learn just for fun.
