About Harley-Jay
Hello! My name is Harley and I am a second-year College student studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. My family have always instilled the importance of academics in me, and I have learnt the importance of structure, whilst catering to a child’s specific needs. No two children learn the same. I strongly believe in the idea of working WITH parents and their children, not simply bringing the classwork to home, and forming an action plan to achieve their goals. I have been tutoring for a company for 3-4 years now, and have experience with children of all backgrounds, especially neurodiverse individuals. So I have learnt methods of teaching that are different to your standard model, and have proven effective. Many of my students have gotten into their top schools, or achieved and exceeded their target grades. It’s always easy to lose hope, as both a child and a parent. But there is always another way, and I as a tutor always fight to find that route.

I offer flexible, online lessons in Mathematics (and Further Mathematics) from Primary to GCSE. Our first classes will be diagnostic, figuring out exactly where you need a hand, and what methods of teaching suit you best. For older students, this will be in the form of guided tests, where we will go through topics and I will ask you what you personally believe you need to work on and test you on what you think you know. However, these are very flexible. If you’d prefer to sit the tests in your own time and report back, just have a chat over the phone or give me a list of topics, that’s okay with me! Parents of younger students may wish to do something similar, but generally the testing in their own time is the most effective approach (plus costs aren’t spent on lesson time). Once focus areas have been identified, we will go through topics one by one until they are mastered, revisiting them every so often. We’ll try a few methods, whether that’s through worksheets together, PowerPoints, online collaborative whiteboards, and so on, and stick with what works best for you. Homework will be assigned and marked at no extra cost, and you or a parent can decide how many hours worth of work will be completed outside of lesson time. These may be in the form of worksheets, revision materials, or online tests on DrFrost.org I am always open to suggestions, so don’t hesitate to ask about any extras. Nothing is too much of a hassle if it increases someone’s chance of success.
