About Nick
I spent 10 years acting and travelling the world with The Royal Shakespeare Company and Propellor Theatre Company, therefore my knowledge of performing and speaking Shakespeare is considerable. Having written two bestselling books - my first about my time at The RSC, and my second asking why Shakespeare is still relevant today - I can provide expert and experienced tutoring on how to bring a book to fruition. Whilst trying to make my way as an actor, I spent my 20s playing piano in 5-star hotels in London and playing rock guitar in bands. I have played session piano with Sir Ray Davies, Hugh Laurie, alongside Jools Holland, and played guitar in a band that won the London New Music Awards in '99. These days, I do a lot of TV and Film and therefore have the time at home to tutor and passionately pass on the knowledge I've gained from thirty years knocking about as an artist. I believe it's better to have a tutor that is engaged with the professional world and knows how things work in certain environments.

All lessons will be tailored to the individual. I can give half-hour/hour lessons on your Shakespeare monologues for Drama School. They will revolve around the understanding of the verse, the technique of delivery - whether it be through Zoom or the metre involved in speaking the text. Writing lessons will be an hour ranging from the construction of a sentence or the balance of the whole book. Music lessons will be half an hour. I teach playing by ear but can also read the dots, so even if you're starting or want to take your playing to another level, I tend to throw away the paper and encourage listening - learning technique by playing along and imitating. That way you can find your voice.
