About Sathya
I'm Sathya, and I'm studying Industrial and Systems Engineering at Ohio State. I've spent time working with elementary kids in an after-school program, helping first and second graders with their reading, writing, and basic math. I think what I bring to tutoring is patience and the ability to keep things organized—students need structure, but they also need someone who won't rush them. I take being reliable seriously. And I really care about making sure students feel good about themselves while they're learning. I want them to feel comfortable enough to try, make mistakes, and ask questions without worrying about getting things perfect right away. That's how they actually grow.

The things that matter most to me when I'm working with kids are staying patient, keeping things clear, and helping them feel confident in themselves. I've learned that every student picks things up differently, so I'm always ready to explain something in a new way if the first approach isn't clicking.
I like to start each lesson with a quick check-in, just seeing where their head's at that day. Then we dive into whatever we're working on. I'll explain the main idea, and then we'll practice together. What really matters to me is hearing how my students think through problems. I want to know what's going on in their heads when they work through an answer, whether they got it right or not, and make sure they are not guessing.
I work mostly with elementary and middle school students, and sometimes teach high school students. That's the age where they're building their foundation in reading and math, and I love being part of that. My goal is always to create a space where they're not scared to ask questions and where mistakes are just part of learning!
