About Nora
What kind of experience do you have? I have a BA in Music Education. I have been teaching 100+ German and Music students in the UK since 2009. I'm a native German speaker. I've worked as a drums/guitar teacher for the Arts Academy ((concealed information) As a performer, I perform in bands, ensembles, plays and TV. Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Yes. I also have a First Aid Certificate and Paediatric First Aid Certificate. Where and with whom did you train? 2008: Mozarteum Salzburg & Tyrolean Conservatory: B.A. music education-drums and percussion. 2012: Greenwich University-M.A. Filmmaking. 2009: Arts Academy-Fun learning Music. Hi, I'm Nora, a German and Percussion/Drums/Marimba teacher originally from Austria. WHICH SUBJECT(s) DO YOU TEACH? I teach German. Either you are just interested in the language, need German for Business, have to learn it for school (e.g. GCSE, A-levels), visit a German speaking country and want to speak a little bit, want to emigrate, want to learn Standard German (for business, acting,..) or a dialect: I am an experienced and trained teacher who likes to help you with your individual German goals. Ich biete Deutsch Unterricht für deutschsprachige Kinder an, bzw. Musikunterricht auf Deutsch. Dies wird vor allem von Eltern genutzt, die Muttersprachler sind, deren Kinder jedoch in England aufwachsen und wenig auf Deutsch lesen oder schreiben. +Good to know: I am very familiar with the GCSE, AS and A level system. +Good to know: I also offer music lessons in German. +Good to know: Being a musician myself, I also help opera singers with their German pronunciation. I highly recommend Nora who has been a very personable, flexible and patient German conversation teacher to me for the past year. She creates a very pleasant and easy going environment to practice speaking German, and also understands when other commitments mean that I need to re-arrange lessons/frequency of lessons.
Really great tutor. Nora is very flexible which was important to me as I work full time. She explains everything in a clear way and is very patient. I feel like I have learned a lot in the few months.
My son has been having German tuition with Nora three years. We started after a change of German teacher at his school. He has since regained his confidence with German. He really enjoys Nora's style of teaching and decided to take his GCSE in German with Nora as his teacher rather than at his school.
More recently, she has started teaching my younger child, (10) too. He looks forward to the lessons and his confidence in speaking has already improved. I asked him what he likes about the lessons and he said "everything!" She also teaches my youngest son (7) guitar. She really responds to his interests and he has made amazing progress both in playing and theory.
Nora has been teaching me and my daughter German for nearly two years. My daughter wanted to study for a German GCSE independently because it was not offered by her school. She has made amazing progress with Nora - I'm impressed with how much she can now read and understand. I'm enjoying my lessons and my confidence has improved hugely. Nora is great at tailoring the lessons to what I need, whether that is grammar or conversation.
