About Anushka

There is more to me than teaching however. Previously I completed a BSc in Politics and International Relations at the University of Bristol. Following this I spent a year working on community development and improving public services in deprived parts of England. After, I moved to Madrid to learn Spanish, so I understand personally the struggles of learning a new language, if English is not your native one. Aside from this I have plenty of hobbies, I am a keen traveller and will be travelling around Central America, I love cooking and baking, going on hikes, watching films, jazz music, creative writing and reading. I hope to get to know a little bit about you too.

About the class

I am a native English speaker who has spent a year teaching English as a foreign language in one of the top schools in Madrid, IES Galileo Galilei. This was a bilingual school where I taught the English curriculum and literature studies to students from the ages of 12-18. Such an experience has taught me how to communicate and explain difficult concepts or techniques within English as well as how to write more concisely and articulately. Previously to this, I worked for the charity, Jacari and also taught English to two refugee girls. I thus have a wealth of experience teaching many different types of students from all ages and how to take a flexible approach to meet their needs. Additionally, as well as teaching English I can also help with History, Geography and Politics. My aim is to provide extra support to pupils in order to help them reach their highest capabilities. As well as this, I hope to make lessons fun and engaging- learning should not be boring but exciting! My first lesson will be a half an hour session and will be free of charge. Here I would like to get to know the pupil, find out what they're interested in, what they would like to get out of the lessons, their current strengths and weaknesses and which learning approach suits them most. I am a flexible tutor and will amend my teaching style to fit the student. From then on we will work together to devise a scheduled plan in order to meet objectives and aid with progress. I am able to support all kinds of students ranging from 10 year olds to those going through GCSE, A-level and even university students. I also support adults who want to improve their English speaking. I am based in Madrid so have a preference to teach online e.g via Zoom.
