Mastering basic UI Design with Figma: A Hands-On & Interactive Course What I Teach This course is designed to introduce students (ages 15-18) to UI design and prototyping using Figma. Over three months, we’ll cover everything from Figma fundamentals to prototyping interactive designs and creating a portfolio-ready project. Key topics include: Figma Interface & Tools – Understanding frames, layers, components, and design elements UI Design Principles – Typography, colour theory, layouts, and responsive design Prototyping & Interaction – Creating clickable prototypes with animations and transitions Real-World Application – Working on a full project and building a portfolio Students will learn by doing—instead of just theory, they’ll work on interactive projects every step of the way. Why This Approach? Many students learn best through hands-on practice and experimentation. Instead of long lectures, each lesson is interactive and fun, focusing on real-world design challenges. Every class includes practical exercises, like redesigning an app screen or creating UI components. Assignments in between lessons help reinforce key concepts and build confidence. The final project ensures students leave with something tangible they can showcase. This method helps develop creative problem-solving skills, which are essential for any aspiring designer. How This Course Benefits the Student By the end of this course, students will: Be proficient in Figma, able to design interfaces from scratch Understand UI/UX design principles and how to apply them in real-world projects Have a portfolio-ready project they can use for school, internships, or future opportunities Gain confidence in design thinking, prototyping, and presenting their ideas Whether a student is looking to pursue a career in design or just explore a new creative field, this course provides the skills and experience to take the next step. Final Outcome A full UI design project, with a clickable prototype A structured understanding of Figma & UI principles A strong foundation in digital design—perfect for beginners and future designers This course is about more than just learning software—it’s about understanding design and building something real. If you’re ready to explore the world of UI/UX and bring your ideas to life, this course is for you!
