About Saranya
- Two years previous experience as a private Foundation GCSE Maths tutor and two years experience as a private A Level Maths tutor. - Achieved a 9 in GCSE Maths, A^ in GCSE Further Maths, A* in A Level Maths and A* in A Level Further Maths with very high marks in each exam. - Graduated in MSci Mathematics at UCL, providing me with a sound understanding of all aspects of Maths. - Although my experience is limited, my approachable nature has meant I have provided informal help to peers throughout my academic career. - As a student myself, who has had to sit online exams during Covid, I can completely empathise with the frustrating situation students have been pushed into. I will do my best to pass on my personal advice on how to prepare for online teaching and assessments if needed. - I pride myself in being friendly and approachable whilst still maintaining a professional relationship.

- The first session is used to create a focused lesson plan targeting the topics that the student struggles with most. This plan is created with their current working grade, their target grade, their exam board and the dates of any upcoming assessments in mind. - Each lesson will focus on one or two topics. Typically, we will work through a quick topic summary, examples and problems of varying difficulty including past paper questions. I will provide additional questions/resources for them to complete in their own time. - Topics will be revisited in future lessons either in the form of a quick quiz at the start of a lesson or a longer session if they still don’t feel confident on the topic. - Lesson structure is completely flexible depending on the student’s learning style. I always encourage a growth mindset in students to help them tackle any unfamiliar questions they may face. - My lessons will be a safe and comfortable environment for students to ask any question however ‘silly’ they may feel it is. - I will ensure students are prepared for exams by working on exam technique, using past paper questions regularly, completing & reviewing past papers both within and outside of lesson time as well as helping them create a tailored revision plan and providing them with resources to help with exam anxiety. - Progress will be tracked continuously, and this will be discussed with the student regularly. Progress reports can be provided to parent(s) upon request. - I personally recommend lessons to be biweekly one hour lessons, but I am happy to adjust this according to what the student and parent(s) feel is comfortable for them. - Lessons are conducted online through Zoom, and I will share any resources with the student through Google Drive. This can be adjusted if the platforms are inaccessible to the student. - I am more than happy for students to reach out to me outside of lesson time to answer any doubts they may have through email, as well as provide support for personal statements when applying to university. I also studied Physics and Chemistry up to A Level, and so can provide advice in those subjects informally. - I am quite flexible and can generally schedule extra lessons easily if requested.
