About Melissa
I have been working as a teacher in the same district for 12 years now and I’m so happy to be at my current school. Outside of teaching, I have directed and stage managed many children’s theatre productions. I enjoy spending time with my nephew; we love to create and build things together. I also sing at my church and I love to read, craft and sew.

Reading/Literature: Middle school students will enjoy my laid back approach to studying literature. Students will learn to annotate, use resources to help with comprehension and decipher figurative language in the text, while learning skills to help them prepare for high school literature courses. Students will also engage in analysis and writing activities. I'm happy to work with the student on novels they are currently reading in class to help them with class assignments or work on a novel that they choose to help them practice skills to apply in the classroom.
Language Arts-Writing and Grammar: Middle school students will focus on games and activities to help them remember grammar concepts and then apply them to writing. Students will have a variety of graphic organizers and outlines to work with to help them find what works for them. I'm happy to work with students on current class assignments or come up with a curriculum for them to learn and practice skills that they can apply in the classroom.
