About Ben
I graduated with a BSc in Mathematics with Statistics from the University of Nottingham in 2019, and an MSc in Satellite Data Science from the University of Leicester in 2021. I am currently working as an Earth Observation scientist in Plymouth.
I have experience as a Year 7 Maths classroom assistant and found real value in helping struggling pupils understand concepts in maths and see their confidence and enthusiasm grow with their understanding. I would like to continue to see this confidence grow in future students, and with it an appreciation for what I believe is a fascinating subject.

My approach is to address a target topic, and understand student's current understanding and method of approach to solving problems. I think the most effective approach is to dive straight into example problems, allowing the student to tackle them as independently as possible and introduce core theory along the process.
I believe that the initial feeling of being completely stuck on a problem is an essential part of learning in mathematics, presenting the opportunity for a real sense of accomplishment once the problem has been thought through and solved. My job is to guide you on that path and give you the confidence to take maths head-on!
