I am mathematics tutor and I can teach statistics and physics

I took over as Isaias's Personal Tutor in 2015, but have known him for quite a long time. Isaias arrived in Sheffield in 2010; he is originally from Angola, and completed a BSc Mathematics degree at Sheffield in 2016.

Isaias has some long-standing mental health issues, arising from some truly horrific experiences from his time in Angola, and the civil war that ravaged the country from the mid-1970s. These are responsible for the fact that his 3-year degree was extended by some years. He graduated in July 2016 with a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Sheffield.

I think that he is actually quite a capable mathematician, but he did find the stress of exams very hard to cope with, and suffered frequent blackouts in the run-up to exams, and during them. His exam performances do not at all reflect his abilities. These blackouts affected his results substantially.

He did a lot of volunteering in his time at Sheffield, and was invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace as a result of some of this. He is a genuinely lovely man, and I wish him the best for the future. He is very keen to work in the educational sector, and I hope that he will get the chance to do this; I know he has done a lot of work on a voluntary basis (although I don't know what he has done over the last year). I suspect that if he could
do a job with little stress, he would be excellent at it. Tutoring seems more appropriate than being in front of a classroom, and I recommend him for a position doing this.

EH 12/06/17- Very committed tutor- tutored for the whole of 2016/17 and only missed sessions under extreme circumstance (e.g. being in hospital). Dedicated and reliable, excellent subject knowledge, builds a good rapport with pupils.
