About Jack

Hey! I'm Jack, a Masters graduate in Computer Science from University of Southern California. I am an Ohio native and received my Bachelors at The Ohio State University in CS and Math. Over the last 5 years at OSU and USC, I've cultivated a strong teaching background in math and CS including courses in Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-calc, Basic Programming, Theory and Algorithms, and more.

Most recently, I served as the head TA for the Algorithms course sequence at USC for three semesters. I'm deeply invested in the educational progress of students, whether they're novices or advanced learners. My primary goal is to provide guidance that's both clear and effective, ensuring a productive learning experience for each student. Let's get started!

I live in West LA, so for in-person lessons they would need to be in the Santa Monica, Westwood, Brentwood, Culver City areas, etc. I also work a full time software job 8-5, so weeknights and weekends are when I’m consistently available. Thanks!

Feel free to reach out directly to my email (concealed information) to see if we’d be a good fit.

About the class

Teaching Approach: I believe in a balanced method, combining structured lessons with real-world examples to ensure concepts are both understood and applicable. Each session usually begins with reviewing what we previously covered, then moving on to new topics, and ending with exercises to reinforce learning.

What Sets Me Apart: I consistently adapt my techniques based on the needs of my students and the evolving fields of math and computer science. My focus is to simplify challenging concepts, ensuring each student feels confident and informed.

Target Audience: While I have a strong background in assisting college students, my teaching style is versatile, catering to anyone from high school students to those in more advanced university courses. If you're eager to learn and understand, I'm here to help!

Perfect! I have had a few sessions with Jack, and so far I can positively say that he has helped me understand concepts that I would otherwise not fully grasp. Overall, he is great a tutor who individually tailors lessons to my style of learning and pace. I've had years of experience with other tutors and can confidently that he's one of the best I've had. I would highly recommend him!

I got Jack as a tutor during my last year of high school. Math was always a struggle, but with him, it felt way less complicated. He used relatable examples that made concepts easier to grasp and was always available for questions outside our sessions. He's patient, knows his stuff, and made me feel ready to tackle college math. Definitely recommend him!

Studying under Jack at USC was a game-changer for me. I was pretty lost with algorithms, but he had this way of making everything click. Every session felt progressive, and he was incredibly patient when things got tough. He always took extra time to ensure we got the basics right. Highly recommend if you're looking to genuinely understand your subject.
