About Ethan
I completed an integrated master's degree in mathematics at Durham University, graduating with first class honours, and I'm now pursuing a PhD in applied mathematics at Leeds University. This background gives me a strong knowledge of pure maths, applied maths and statistics: from GCSE to university level. I've gained experience helping younger students and supporting peers at university, often explaining challenging ideas in a clear and accessible way. My approach is to break down complex ideas into clear, manageable examples to make the concepts click. Once students have grasped the concept, I like to check their understanding by working through exam-style questions together, so they can build problem-solving skills and improve their confidence. I emphasise developing the ability to reason mathematically over merely memorising content. Lessons will typically be for one hour, but this is flexible, and are for students of all abilities.
