About Ashok
I was born and brought up in India. I have completed my masters in French language & literature from Delhi University. I have 2+ years of experience teaching French language.
I grew up learning English through naturalization, indulging myself into the English-speaking world day by day a little more than the last one, developing an American accent in the process. I never took any professional classes for it.
So when I wanted to learn French, I sort of did the same. I learned the basics through a professional and then went on my own to discover the French-speaking world. And I discovered quite a lot! There are resources that I have gathered in my long journey of six years that I can’t wait to share with you.
The reason for me to begin teaching is pretty simple. There’s a lot that gets lost in a professional setting within the constraints of an academic curriculum. But I want you to explore the language. I want you to feel it. The way I did, by discovering something new about it every single day.

// The Philosophy Behind Naturalizing French //
Let me start with something simple: learning French isn't just about memorizing vocabulary, rules, and textbook sentences. If your goal is to actually speak with French speakers, you need to learn how French is used in real conversations.
Here’s how I approach it.
1. Let’s start with “de”
“De” is one of those little words that appears everywhere in French. You’ll see it constantly, and understanding how it works will make a surprisingly big difference as you progress.
2. Grammar first, vocabulary along the way
Grammar matters. Not because I want you to become a grammar expert, but because understanding the basic structure of French gives you confidence when you speak.
So, we’ll build a strong grammatical foundation first. The vocabulary will naturally grow as we go along.
3. Speak first. Polish later.
Think about how a child learns a language. They speak long before they learn how to write a grammatically perfect sentence.
I want you to approach French in a similar way.
The initial goal is fluency, not perfection. If you can get your thoughts across, even if your French isn't polished yet, that's progress. We can work on articulation and refinement later.
4. Real French doesn't always sound like textbook French
This is probably one of the biggest differences you'll notice.
Native speakers connect sentences differently. They pause in unexpected places. They drop words. They contract words. They speak quickly. Sometimes, what you hear sounds nothing like the sentence you just learned from a book.
And this is something you don't get taught enough in traditional French classes.
I've spent years talking to native French speakers, working with French-speaking clients, and figuring out what actually works in real conversations—and what doesn't.
That's where I come in.
5. Pair your passive and active learning
Listening and reading are both passive skills, so I like to work on them together.
Speaking and writing are active skills, so we'll work on those together too.
The idea isn't to spend hours doing one type of exercise in isolation. Everything should feed into everything else.
6. If you're learning French for a job, fluency matters
Think about what happens in an actual job interview.
Nobody is likely to sit you down and say, “Show me your French certificate.”
They're going to start talking to you in French.
And if you can't respond comfortably, the certificate isn't going to save you.
I've worked in the French corporate sector with multinational companies such as Amazon, and I've also dealt with and while working in travel, I have spoken with international clients from France, Canada, Africa, and other Francophone countries.
One thing became very clear to me:
People don't speak the way textbooks are written.
So I often ask myself, and my students: why spend all your time learning French that you won't actually hear or use in real life?
7. Is there a shortcut to fluency?
People often say, “There is no shortcut to learning French.”
They're kind of right.
There isn't a magic potion that will make you fluent overnight. But there are ways to make the process much faster and more efficient.
Over the years, I've collected resources, techniques, shortcuts, and, most importantly, personal experiences that have helped me figure out what actually works.
So yes, I believe you can fast-track your learning if you approach it the right way.
8. Put yourself inside the situation
One of the best ways to learn conversational French is to actually internalize situations.
Instead of simply memorizing a sentence, imagine yourself being in the situation where you'd naturally use it.
How would you respond? What would the other person say? Where would you pause? What words would you probably leave out?
I'll show you how we can do this in French.
9. Learn through things you actually enjoy
This one is important.
If you like Spider-Man, why should we spend an hour reading some random textbook passage about “Monsieur Pierre going to the supermarket”?
Let's use Spider-Man in French.
If you like movies, let's watch a scene and talk about it—in French, of course.
If you're interested in football, gaming, music, travel, anime, technology, or pretty much anything else, we can use that.
The idea is simple: make French relevant to you.
And most important, let's get you speaking as early as possible—even if your French is rough at first.
10. The classes should feel like conversations
These won't be lectures where I talk at you for an hour while you quietly take notes.
We'll have conversations.
You should be able to stop me and say:
“Wait, so you mean I can actually say it like this?”
And I'll say, “Yes. And that's much simpler, isn't it?”
That's the kind of learning environment I'm trying to create.
I'm not here to compete with every other French teacher out there. There are probably teachers who are more qualified than I am on paper.
What I can offer you is something different.
I want learning French to feel natural, practical, and most importantly—fun.
My goal is to help you understand the kind of conversational French I've picked up through years of trial and error: the French that people actually use when they're talking to each other.
So, if you'd like to eventually speak with native speakers, understand the more casual/slang-ish side of French, or simply explore the language because you're curious, this could be a good fit for you.
If your goal is strictly formal or highly professional French, this may not be exactly what you're looking for—although these skills can still help you considerably with that.
To put it simply:
I don't teach you the French you need to pass a French class.
I teach you the French you “need” when a French person actually starts talking to you.
