About Soraya
For as long as I can remember, music has been a huge part of my life. I started playing the violin and taking private lessons when I was only 2 years old, and fell in love with learning not only how to play music well, but how it works. I began taking piano lessons when I was in elementary school and then later decided I wanted to play in the school band, so I started playing the flute. I majored on flute in college where I got a degree in Multi-Age Music Education from Cedarville University. Music is not only my career but also my passion and joy! I want you to grow to love music as much as I do and my primary goal is to help you establish more confidence in yourself and develop a lifelong love of music too.

After graduation, I taught in local public schools straight out of college, but then started building my collection of private students where I teach at a local studio! I currently teach private flute and piano lessons locally, and love every minute of it. I have taught anywhere from 5 year olds to 18 year olds, and feel that this variety in my students has taught me how to be an engaging, interactive, and effective teacher to all my students, no matter what their learning styles and backgrounds are.
After teaching such a wide range of students and abilities, I have grown my skills to meet my students where they are at and cater our lessons to their learning styles and preferences. Lessons with me vary drastically depending on what your goals are and what you would like to accomplish. We can be working on studying or preparing for an upcoming performance or we can simply play through some sight reading and make you feel a little more confident in your musical abilities!
I am currently accepting students ranging from age 6 to adult. No one is too beginner or too advanced to benefit from private lessons!
